Winter plein air painting at Hakdong Beach

Completed in a fast 45-minute plein air session on February 24, 2025, as my hands were freezing numb from the winter sea breeze.

A pebble beach located on Geoje Island, where the familiar island of Oedo can be seen near the horizon, and Windy Hill with its distant windmills comes into view.
To put it in just one word: a place you never get tired of, no matter how often you go! A place I visit almost once a week! A place where you wonder if there could be anywhere better for healing! That is why I go there often.

Sometimes I go in the scorching heat of summer, sometimes in the bitter, freezing winds of winter, and sometimes in April, when the mountain's light green spectrum reflects so dazzlingly upon the sea... A place I go without rhyme or reason, time and time again!

A place you can only reach after driving an hour from home! Yet, a place I always long to visit.

A place alive with the breath of a friend who has since become a star. A place where my heart overflows with yearning!

Sometimes, a place so achingly bittersweet that it's hard to make my feet move forward.

A place where all my melancholy washes away, mixed into the sound of pebbles rolling with the waves. That is why I love Hakdong Beach.

Hakdong Beach, wanting to soar like the crane of a prenatal dream (taemong)! I wonder what it will feel like to stand once again on the shores of Hakdong, after I have finally achieved everything I've ever dreamed of doing?
Hakdong Beach, where I was just yesterday... 
and Hakdong Beach, where I want to go again...

My Favorite: Myeongsa Beach August 26, 2025 (Tue) — Plein-air painting in the scorching heat With shallow waters, fine sand, gentle waves, and a decent view—above all, the shade and beauty of a large, majestic pine tree stretching its thick branches out toward the sea create an atmosphere and style that are truly beyond description. There is a wooden deck in the middle where you can get a great view of the entire landscape, which is wonderful. The large pine tree wooden platform is truly a stroke of genius. It is a place with its own unique charm... The scenery alone is absolute art. Someday, I want to stand right here fully equipped and paint the sunset landscape. I couldn't bear not filling the canvas to the brim with the scenery of Myeongsa Beach that I love so much. Around 5:40 PM on August 26, 2025 (Tue), about an hour of plein-air painting came to an end. Life as a Painter To be completely honest, it might be a life lived with economic poverty and social disdain. They say things have gotten a bit better now, but from my perspective, it doesn't feel all that different from before. The greatest difficulty, first of all, is economic hardship. In a world driven entirely by capitalist logic, living without money is essentially throwing your life away without any safety net.
